About Sophie

Hello, I’m Sophie, founder of Prana Occupational Therapy and an HCPC-registered occupational therapist specialising in sleep, sensory processing and everyday participation.

I help children, adults and families understand what may be making sleep and daily life difficult. Together, we develop practical, personalised strategies that build on your strengths and fit your routines, priorities and everyday life.

As a mum, I understand how important it is for advice to feel realistic and manageable.

My Approach

I believe sleep difficulties rarely exist in isolation. They can be connected with sensory processing, routines, emotional regulation, the environment, health and the demands of everyday life.

My approach is calm, collaborative and practical. I take my time to understand the whole picture, explain what may be contributing to the difficulty, and develop realistic strategies that fit the individual and their family.

My Experience

My background spans 20 years in care and support roles with children, young people and adults, alongside my professional experience as an occupational therapist.

Earlier in my career, I supported adults with profound learning disabilities, complex health needs and behaviours that communicated distress. Working in community services, I helped people participate in meaningful activities in their own homes, using sensory strategies, communication support and personalised routines to support wellbeing and quality of life.

My wider experience includes working and volunteering in educational and specialist settings in India, Tanzania and Kenya. These experiences continue to shape my compassionate, person-centred approach and my respect for each person’s culture, circumstances and priorities.

Today, I bring this experience to Prana, working collaboratively with individuals and families to understand their needs and make everyday life more manageable and meaningful.
